I didn't need this book to master saltstack

I want to start with this first. This books adds no value to what saltstack website provides. I started learning salt stack for few weeks and after one week I was able to deploy it successfully with many states files. After two weeks of learning I was able to replace puppet with salt by just reading saltstack online documentation. I though this book will be able to help to do more complex stuff. But I am totally disappointed. Frankly speaking I just read the book for 30 minutes and found nothing which can help me to understand it more. It seems to me that best place to learn saltsatk is going through their website. May be I was expecting too much from this book and got too little.

FROM CHAPTER 1, THE WAY

The Tao is self-evident
To those who live in choiceless awareness.

When you perceive everything objectively,
Your path is clear and unobstructed.

Thus begin the verses of the Hsin Hsin Ming. Or, at least, thus begins this version of the translation of it. Like the Dao de jing (known in previous years as the Tao te Ching), this classic spiritual scripture has undergone many translations over the centuries. Consequently, the interpretation of its original wording has varied in each rendition. But the central, emphatic message remains consistently clear throughout its text: the importance and value of comprehending the nondual perspective.

The word Tao (or Dao) basically means Way, in the sense of a direction, or passage, or opening. We might say that to pass through the transcendental opening is to embrace the Tao, to find one’s unencumbered way in this life on earth. In Buddhism, this path is said to lead us to encounter the “gateless gate,” the point at which the disciple experiences no obstructions.

Most often, in the translations of this Zen text, the opening words are given as the Great Way, or Supreme or Perfect Way, in the sense of “ultimate,” or transcendent or Absolute. An alternate usage for Way or Tao is Mind (or Buddha Mind), again a reference to the universal or absolute Presence which knows no limitation.

Hsin, in the poem’s title, indicates (in one sense of its usage) Mind, as a formless Presence which is the source of all being. As used in a second sense, Hsin also refers to an awareness of this ubiquitous Presence, to the extent of realizing one’s identity with it, thus generating a complete trust in the omnipresent Mind. In the trust of this Mind, there is no separation from it, no dissimilarity: Hsin Hsin.

Ming is a “treatise,” a teaching; in this case, in a versified format similar to the Dao de jing or the Sermon on the Mount. So the title of the Hsin Hsin Ming has been translated variously as (for instance) Affirming the Buddha-Mind, or The Mind of Absolute Trust.

Another Gem by Robert Wolfe

This book is a very clear translation of the Chinese classic Hsin Hsin Ming. I've always enjoyed reading this spiritual classic poem, but never fully understood it until now. Robert Wolfe clearly translates each passage from his own clarity of enlightenment, which makes it all the more richer and vibrant than it already is. He has also included other material translated very clearly. I highly recommend this book!

Worth reading and re-reading

If you want to know who you really are, Robert Wolfe's "One Essence" allows interested readers the opportunity to go directly to the heart of the centuries-old message of non-dualism that so many explorers have had trouble grasping. I found that taking a few pages at a time was especially helpful for me. I read them, re-read them and then allowed some time for absorbing the resonance that ensued before starting to read another segment.
This little book is a "Keeper"!

very dry

while at times july loses his preachy "lessons of Africa as lessons of the world" lecture mode, mostly the book is dry preexisting generalizations about the continent. he fails to preempt the possibility that whoever may be reading his book has some basic knowledge of Africa and African History. You may find some of his insights helpful if you are the type person who refers to africa as the 'black continent.' Evem if this is required for a class, don't buy. your prof. couldn't concievably test you over the words of this quack.

Out of the heart of darkness:

This book, in my estimation, is one of the better books on the continent of Africa. A continent that has produced so much, yet it is still underated, being spoiled and plundered by outside intervention for many centuries. How far does one have to go back in order to find it`s beginnings, it`s origin, it`s roots? How long had Africa been a thriving, advanced civilization prior to the intervention of the Europeans? Who were the Olmec people, and how many centuries did the great kings of Mali rule their kingdoms, and should the Egyptians be called african, also. Why is modern day africa still reeling from the influence of colonialism and despotism.

I have occasionally found that spiral-bound volumes have the disadvantage that the pages can become torn and eventually detach themselves; but this volume seems to be very sturdily made. About the Author
John Rutter was born in London in 1945 and studied music at Clare College, Cambridge. His compositions embrace choral, orchestral, and instrumental music, and he has edited or co-edited various choral anthologies, including four Carols for Choirs volumes with Sir David Willcocks and the Oxford Choral Classics series. From 1975 to 1979 he was Director of Music at Clare College, and in 1981 he formed his own choir, the Cambridge Singers. He now divides his time between composition and conducting and is sought after as a guest conductor for the world's leading choirs and orchestras. Born in 1919, David Willcocks began his musical career as a chorister at Westminster Abbey, later winning scholarships to Clifton College and King's College, Cambridge. Following war service, he was elected Fellow of King's College, and later became Organist of Salisbury and Worcester Cathedrals, conducting the Three Choirs Festival whilst at Worcester. Willcocks returned to King's College, Cambridge as Director of Music from 1957-1974, with the first collection of his arrangements in the Carols for Choirs series publishing in 1961. He was Director of Music at the Royal College of Music from 1974-1984, and was knighted in the Queen's Silver Jubilee Honours List in 1977. Willcocks also conducted The Bach Choir for 38 years, retiring in 1998. Sir David died in September 2015.

The masters do it again!

I had the pleasure of participating in a workshop with David Willcocks, and received this book as part of it. It was first published in 1987, but Sir David had some amusing anecdotes to share about how he and John Rutter, another name to reckon with in choral music circles, put it together.
This is what I like about it:
* These gentlemen are giants in the English choral music scene, and personify the English choral tradition in everything they do. So it's a pleasure to find that they have included many carols from other countries, as well as the English ones. It's very hard to find non-English-language carols, so this is a nice little collection.
* Their 4-part arrangements are imaginative but easy enough to sight-sing.
* It also includes a listing of church festivals other than Christmas, with the names and page numbers of carols that would be appropriate for each.
* For ease of navigation as you're singing, the verses are in Roman type while the refrains are in italics.
* For reasons that are not clear, they have chosen to include the text in the original language in some cases, but not all. The foreign language texts are immediately under the English translations, so you can sing in either language.
* At the very end of the book is the order of service for the traditional Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols, with instructions on the appropriate rank of each person to read, from chorister to bishop.
If you are only going to buy one carol book, this and the Oxford Book of Carols are the best ones to consider. The Oxford has more in it, and is hugely more expensive, so I recommend this one! it'll take you several Christmasses to sing your way through it.

Lucked out! Most of your choir carols in it and David Willcocks pencil instructions

This carol book has terrific carols and some very unusual ones. They range from easy to hard so most choirs can benefit from them. It actually has an outline and readings from the Service of Lessons and Carols which could be very valuable for the music director and church leader.

My particular used copy just happened to have notes in it from David Willcocks himself. Can you imagine!!! This was just too good to be believed. I love nothing more than this service of lessons and carols, so the best is here. There are also some Easter Carols --worth the price.

Absolutely marvelous collection with wonderful descants and interesting arrangements. I have given copies to many people because I love this book so MUCH!!! If you've ever lived in England, or ever loved CDs of King's College Choir or St. John's College Choir from Cambridge, England, you will discover the arrangements in this great book!

Germinal is the thirteenth book in a twenty book series called Les Rougon-Macquart (Natural and social history of a family under the Second Empire). It is about a family living during the second half of the 19th century during France's Second Empire. Written in 1885, Germinal focuses on �tienne Lantier, a decendant of the Macquart family and his struggles with injustice after he befriends a coal miner who gets him work in a coal mine.

The author, �mile Zola, was born on April 2, 1840. He died on the 20th of September, 1902 at age 62.

This work was translated by Havelock Ellis in 1895. He was born on February 2, 1859, and died on July 8, 1939 at age 80.

Germinal est le treizi�me livre d'une s�rie de vingt livres que l'on appelle les Rougon-Macquart (histoire naturelle et sociale d'une famille sous le Second Empire). Il s'agit d'une famille vivant dans la seconde moiti� du 19e si�cle au cours du Second Empire en France. Germinal a �t� �crit en 1885 et se concentre sur �tienne Lantier, un descendant de la famille Macquart et ses luttes avec l'injustice apr�s qu'il se lie d'amiti� d'un mineur qui lui trouve un emploi dans une mine de charbon.

L'auteur, �mile Zola, est n� le 2 avril 1840. Il est d�c�d� le 20 Septembre, 1902 � 62 ans.

Cet ouvrage a �t� traduit par Havelock Ellis en 1895. Il est n� le 2 F�vrier 1859, et d�c�d� le 8 Juillet 1939 � 80 ans.

Easy to read French

I am pretty fluent in French, but the vocabulary and sentence construction of the early 19th century is difficult to read without a dictionary at hand. Having the English translation immediately following the French saves a lot of time. I can just glance at the English when I need to and move on. They are easy to tell apart by their type font, so when there's no problem, I can skip over the English and move on.
