This is a solid book! For all folks who are in doodle art I would recommend it with no doubt.

Well, I read this book out of curiosity and because I wanted to learn more about doodling.
In general, I would say this is a well written entertaining and helpful finding for those who are interested in art and in "zendoodling" in particular. The book has some strong and weak parts. I tried to make a fair review of them all. Here we go.

PROS

+ Lessons start right after the introduction. The book has basic patterns, step by step instructions, guidelines and shading. There is no need to get twenty books for the same information. Massive value for the contents. So you don't need a series of other books.

+ I love some illustrations, especially animals like a lion or an owl. They are really cute. One day I will draw a better one lol.

+ Good for beginners and intermediate level. I found the simple patterns really easy to reproduce. Step by step guidances are easy to repeat and well described.

+ Advanced drawing. Once you are good enough (not my case yet, but still) - expert level patterns, optics illusions and shadowing look pretty neat, which usually many books don't show. Moreover, while reading even beginners can try and actually draw some really outstanding pics.

+ It is not just a book about seeing and doodling, it is a book about our MENTAL HEALTH. It tells how to get rid of the stress and relax while you draw something. Authors give a lot of advises how to start your first doodle project , how to express yourself, how to relax and get advantages and satisfaction from drawing.

+ I love the MAIN RULE of this book - You can draw anything and in the end it doesn't matter what your drawing looks like-or doesn't look like! What's important is the act of drawing itself. Opening your eyes and your heart to the world around you is the main idea of this book, as I see it.

+ Despite the fact that nowadays many books push you to buy something or attend their courses, this book helps you to open up certain avenues of your soul, express yourself through doodling and be more creative, without any hidden advertising.

+ Inspiration gallery is really fun. My favorite is a small girl's picture, I can't imagine that she is so young to draw like this.

CONS

- I am not sure if there are any colored pictures. There could be something, although many Kindles are black and white.

- There is no option to buy a printed version of this book. That’s disappointing. I would buy one for my mom, as she doesn’t feel comfortable with electronic devices.

- Sometimes it's too much theory and discussions about what is doodling and what is not. Frankly, I skipped some chunks of text. But this is my point.

Concluding, this is a solid book teaching exactly what I was looking for. For all folks who are in doodle art I would recommend it with no doubt.

For those who are interested in art. Recommended.

I often draw pictures whenever I get free time or when I feel bored. I love doodle art. I had learned many tips to make my art more beautiful. This book taught me to art in a very good way. There were many pictures in this book and I manage to draw all of them. The book started with a very simple picture which looked very beautiful once it was finished. All I need is to spend some time on this art, my room looks very beautiful and classical with my arts.
My son too love to art from this book. Highly recommended.

Everything you need

I love, love, love this book. It gives you everything you need to make doodle art (called Zentangle by some). As you can see from the Table of Contacts I've attached, the chapter covers it all. Not only do they show you completed pictures, but the book shows step by step how to complete each doodle. Information of the type of equipment, pattern variations, and much more are explained in this book. Lots of fun!

Animal Crossing: New Leaf's Official "Guide"

Animal Crossing: New Leaf is Nintendo's newest edition into their Animal Crossing Franchise. Unlike some of the guides that have been released in the past for the Animal Crossing series, it would seem that this particular Prima guide has fallen flat, and to be honest I've never been more disappointed by a guide purchase in recent memory. That being said, the guide isn't a complete waste of your money, but if you're expecting it to contain all of the information that you would expect a guide for Animal Crossing to include, you will be disappointed.

Pros:

- If you have never played the franchise before, the early parts of the guide will make your re-adjustment to the Animal Crossing gameplay and lifestyle MUCH easier. They will detail all of the tricks of the trade with the various tools you are given to earn bells with and how to eventually get upgraded versions of those tools.

- The guide includes a month-by-month calendar of what wildlife is available, so this ensures that you always can progress with your fish and bug collection without having to resort to 'time-traveling'.

- The guide includes a complete catalog of items in the game with checkboxes so you and the other players in the house can mark your progress. (Ex: Checkboxes are labeled P1, P2, P3, P4 for the 4 villagers allowed in one town.)

- You will learn tips such as being able to figure out which paintings are 'false' when the fox, Redd, comes to your town.

- I'm indifferent about this, but an e-version of the guide is available. It's not formatted very well for the e-format, but if you are unable to use the book you will have it available online.

Cons:

- The most outrageous thing I found myself getting frustrated over with this guide is how the guide itself did not seem to even be properly updated or modified to the final version of the game. If you're looking for the actual prices of fish, bugs, and similar things that can be sold in the game you will be VERY disappointed. The e-version of the guide will "warn" you that the fish will only be able to be sold for a 1/4th of their value that the guide considers the item has. For a guide that is cataloging crucial information such as this, it is absolutely unacceptable that the information isn't just made apparent of what the actual re-tail cost for items are.

- The guide details your neighbor's species and things such as their catch phrases, their birthdays, and their favorite activities, but the guide itself does not actually show you pictures of each and every single villager. It would be rather hard to find a way to get a picture for every single villager in the game of animal crossing, but it is something you would expect out of a guide for a game when you can generally never expect to see most of these characters ingame, it should be a resource of what some other players may have gotten, or even what you can hope for.

- The guide is too vague sometimes about how to unlock certain things in the game. The Animal Crossing series isn't a series that is recommended to many children that are just learning how to read, or are still struggling with reading due to the amount of conversations that occur during the game, but sometimes the guide is vague enough to cause confusion even in the most seasoned of Animal Crossing players.

All and all, I was expecting more from this strategy guide for the game, but if you're hoping for a resource to serve as a checklist for items available in the game, you'll find it more than suitable.

Terrible As a Guide/Decent as a Catalog Checklist

This guide is incredibly unhelpful when it comes to actual information pertaining to features/content of the game - it's incredibly vague, often spouts misinformation, really disorganized (items in no logical order forcing you to use the index for just about everything), and is missing a lot of content that I feel should have been included (i.e. it informs you that you can get balloons and pinwheels from the street pass feature... but completely neglects to inform you about the ice cream, tweeter and bubble wand you can also get from the same action. Another example is that this book completely neglects to inform you about the value of getting your fortune read by Katrina and what her reading entails with regards to good luck/bad luck... like a prediction of good luck in love means that you will increase the rate at which you become friends with villagers of the opposite sex. Another is valuing the "moon" item at 320 bells but it's actually 32,000 bells). It doesn't have ANY pictures for the villagers by name nor does it list their personality types.

I've honestly resorted to simply using this guide to catalog the items I've purchased and going onto free wikipedias or the animal crossing subreddits for ACTUAL information (like how many bells I have to spend to unlock the next shop or what exact dates certain fish or bugs are available as this is another area where the guide is incredibly vague or gives misinformation - one example being it lists the Oarfish as being available 1% in all months when really the Oarfish is only available December-May)

If you want a tangible checklist with pictures, this book functions as that just fine although it is missing some items (especially the consumable stuff like ice cream as mentioned above)... if you want concrete information about the game itself, don't waste your time. You'll end up finding your answers online for free because this book will probably not have them.

Extremely disappointed that this is the only English guide available when Japan received a wonderful, in depth guide. I've gone ahead and spent some money on the Japanese guide anyway as it has great visual references that this guide lacks (like the recolors available for certain items via Cyrus in Retail) and I already know I will find the Japanese book I cannot read infinitely more useful than this misinformed, lackluster "guide" from Prima.

Some good features + some bad features = just okay

Animal Crossing is a game where keeping track of all the various items is very helpful, and the Prima guide to Animal Crossing Wild World was great, so I purchased this guide when I purchased New Leaf. There are some pros for this book and some cons, which for me balances out to this book being just okay.

Pros:
- Keeping track: This is the big kahuna of pros for me. I enjoy keeping track of what I've bought, caught, and earned because it helps me complete my collections and trade with other players. Additionally, the book is set up so items can be checked off for up to 4 characters, so you can use it for multiple characters and/or you can share it with a family member very easily.
- Calendar: The calendar section of the book is arranged nicely and serves as a great reference. Each month has a calendar with holidays and animal character birthdays noted, followed by a list of all the fish and insects available during that month. This helps me check to see if I've done and collected all things possible.
- Animal character information: The characteristics and preferences of each animal character is good to have so I can give them appropriate gifts and order items for their birthdays.
- Coffee information: It's really useful to have the charts of what types of coffee each animal prefers. Otherwise, it would take forever in the game to figure it out on my own.

Cons:
- Format: I don't really like the smaller, thicker format of this book compared to the larger, thinner book for Wild World because I can't leave this book open to a specific page for reference while playing.
- Not as much information as I'd like: There is very little actual gameplay information in the book, so I end up going online when I need it. Someone else already mentioned thonky.com, and I've found that site to be a great help in many areas.
- Unreliable prices: The prices in my book don't match up to the prices in the game, which doesn't really affect me in the game too much, but it seems that a game guide should have better accuracy in general.
- Layout: This is the big kahuna of cons for me. I prefer items to be listed alphabetically because that makes it SO much easier to find out quickly if I already have an item or not, or what groups something belongs to (style, set, etc.). I'm fine with the big categories being separated into their own sections, but within those categories the items are listed randomly. So when I want to see if I've checked off something, or what the characteristics are, I have to go to the index in the back and find it, then go back to the listed page and find it again. It's REALLY time-consuming to go through the catalog at the Nooks' store and check off what I have, or to try to check things off as I get them!

Overall, I'm glad I purchased this book. But I do hope that Prima improves their guide format for the next Animal Crossing game, otherwise I will probably skip buying it and stick to finding information online and printing out the online lists of items.

Hazan's The Classic Italian Cookbook (1976) and More Italian Cooking (1978) are the standards in the field, and now, almost 20 years after the publication of the first title, they are available in a single volume, completely revised and updated. A few recipes have been cut, about 50 new ones added, and just about every recipe from the originals has been rewritten and, where deemed necessary, revised. Italian cooking, as opposed to the Italian American fare passed off in so many restaurants, has become all the rage here in the last several years; with the reappearance of Hazan's classics, it's strikingly apparent how far ahead of their time they were the first time around. The only disappointment is that the lengthy, thoughtful menu suggestions with each recipe have been dropped. An essential purchase. HomeStyle main selection; BOMC alternate.

Simple and easy cooking, delicious results!

I live in Italy now, and honestly, her tips make me a better cook than many of the restaurants and native Italians that I've found here. This particular book is filled with simple recipes. Not too many ingredients, nothing too fancy. No quail eggs and golden raisins, nothing that takes way too long. I think for a few of her soups, she recommends making broth one day and then freezing it. Most of her recipes can be prepared in 20mins-1 hr, and for fancier food, give it a couple of hours of slow cooking. Everything is delicious.

The one downside that I've found is that sometimes I feel that she doesn't advise about how much spice to put onto something. That's fine, though. All the recipes I've tried (roast chicken, chicken cacciatore, a lot of pasta sauces, fish recipes, stuffed squid, multiple risottos, vegetable dishes...) have come out delicious. Well done!

The Essential Italian Cookbook

Marcella Hazan is to Italian what Julia Child is to French: The person who introduced American cooks to a cuisine, and in so doing changed how we ate. This book is essential: both essential to anyone who wants to cook authentic Italian, and essentially Marcella.
This book has many virtues. It's very thorough -- a comprehensive survey of the various courses and food groups. There are dedicated chapters for pasta and risotto, for example, where many books treat those together. And in addition to the obvious meats, such as veal, lamb, beef, pork, etc., she also tackles subjects such as rabbit and variety meats. (Use Amazon's "Look inside" feature to see the table of contents.)
Another virtue is the trouble she takes to explain ingredients, be they classic italian ingredients or simply the italian perspective on something. After reading through the Fundamentals chapter, you'll never shop for italian-style ingredients quite the same way ever again. In short, very accessible paragraphs, she goes through the history, regional origins, and uses for the major herbs, cheeses, meats, etc. She covers what to look for when buying an ingredient -- what's fresh, what packaging makes for the best product.
The recipies are very workable and give generally excellent results. The techniques are accessible to anyone who can saute on a stovetop -- anyone who's beyond the stage of rank beginner. The instructions are very clear and strike the right balance, with enough information to give clarity without drowning the reader in detail. (There are few things more infuriating than standing over a cookbook, dripping spoon in hand, reading through War and Peace to figure out what to do next.)
Last, but not least, the results are delicious, with subtle flavors that will please you and yours. Two of my favorites will give you a taste. The Pasta with Peas, Bacon, and Ricotta combines very simple ingredients -- pancetta, mild, smooth, ricotta cheese, parmesan, and fresh peas, into a sublime dish that you can throw together for summer dinners in half an hour from start to finish. On the other hand, the Stewed Pork with Porcini Mushrooms and Juniper makes a wonderful winter meal, as the wild tastes of the porcini and the bite of juniper berries combine wonderfully to flavor the pork. This is one I catch my husband eating cold out of the fridge late at night!

Important note: This edition is not a brand-new book. Instead, it combines two previous books, The Classic Italian Cook Book (1973) and More Classic Italian Cooking (1976), into one volume. There are a couple dozen new recipies, and the older recipies are updated to reduce fats. If you own those, you may want this one. If you are new to Marcella and are accumulating her books, this one book enables you to skip the two older ones.

This is a reprint of Marcella's original book from the 1970s. The recipes are presented in a no frills instruction manual format. No pictures. The quantity and quality of the recipes is amazing. I have many Italian cookbooks and this one is my "Bible".

Muscular System Poster is an Essential Tool for Bodywork

For anyone working in bodywork, such as massage therapists, fitness instructors, physical therapists, and other health workers, the muscular system chart is an essential tool to have in order to be able to clearly show the client or patient exactly what muscles are involved in their bodywork or treatment. This visual aid shows where the muscle is in relation to other muscles and, thus, is useful in understanding the interaction of the muscles with other muscles as well as ligaments, tendons, and joints. The chart is very detailed and shows deep as well as superficial muscles. It's also a great learning tool for body workers as well as their clients.

I ordered this poster along with a full sized skeleton and skeletal poster in Amazon's +3 recommendation. I find it to be a small poster on thin paper and definitely not worth $18. It does depict the muscular system, but honestly I was expecting something bigger and of better quality. It came bunged up too. For everything one star.

Absorbing

Now I am the proud owner of the author, Alisha "Priti" Kirpalani's
'Prequill' "A Smattering of Darkness".

The stories were gripping, captivating and entrancing.

The shortest stories were my personal favourites. Beautifully encompassing a
whole narrative in a handful of words.
Expressed so vividly that you feel the emotions and are left in wonder at
the author's ability to hold you in captivity and the
eager yearning for more.

The only 'Fallibility' was that the collection was too short.
I want 'The Promise' from this author for more such stories.
So Alisha "Priti" Kirpalani your time starts now..

The stories in this book kept me thinking, so much so, I read it again after almost a month. And yes, such smattering of darkness kept me glued to it.

The anthology is divided into three parts - short, shorter and shortest. Believe me, as I progressed, my excitement kept increasing. I simply loved the shortest stories, not because of the word count or length, but these very few liners were so simple in expression but so complex in thought.

The stories are not the usual kind. They are dark, sometimes gothic, and not the kinds with happy endings. But still, the themes are diverse, relevant and definitely thought provoking. They have the power to make you feel, make you emote as you progress.

Alisha has a distinct writing style. Its almost as if lesser the word count, deeper the symbolism and meaning. It is definitely not easy to capture a reader's attention till the last story, especially when some have the power to make you squirm and cringe in your seat. Each story rakes up beautiful yet dark imageries. The stories appeal to all senses and a pure, though somewhat disturbing, treat to read. She has truly done an awesome job.

Each story has the required number of characters- neither more nor less. In fact, too many characters lead to confusion and too little may border on boredom, unless, of course, the author has the writing skills to pull it off efficiently. Alisha certainly puts up a powerful performance. Hats off to her.

To sum up, you will love to think about the stories in this anthology long after you have read it. This collection is a must read and a book that you must have in your personal library.

Excellent collection of dark tales

A Smattering of Darkness by Alisha "Priti" Kirpalani is a collection of short stories exploring the darker side of the human mind. The collection contains tales ranging from the macabre to the whimsical.

From the very beginning, it was clear to me that this is the work of a skilled writer who has honed her talent to razor sharpness. Kirpalani’s wordsmithery evokes vivid images that not only stirs the imagination, but leaves the reader pondering the deeper meaning of each story. The way the author shapes words sometimes borders on the lyrical, but always in service of the narrative. Passages such as the following entranced me as I read it:

“The pearly whiteness of her own scars against the knotted green of Mamma's hands. Mamma's sweaty palms, her prize of motherhood, nope, the price of motherhood.”

The collection is full of delicious prose like this, but never comes off as pretentious, overbearing, or stilted. In fact, the writing remained at a high level throughout the entire book.

I found each tale in this collection to be fascinating and even humorous at times, which was a welcome surprise considering the book focuses on dark themes. One of my personal favorite pieces in the collection was ‘A Fable of Fallibility’ a fanciful and tragic tale of two lovers who must face their own demons to secure the other’s love.

My only complaint, and it is a minor one, is that I feel the text could use a little more editorial polish. It was somewhat distracting to encounter grammatical errors and formatting issues in an otherwise masterfully put together work of literature. If not for these errors, I may have given this collection a perfect score.

Still, I highly recommend this collection to fans of short fiction as well as readers who enjoy brilliant, well-written prose. I will definitely seek out for more work from this author.
